“Ber” months

“34 days left until Christmas!” That’s how I greeted my students this morning, and they thought I was too excited, maybe I am! But here in the Philippines, celebrating Christmas early is normal.

We start the season as soon as September rolls around, during what we call the “Ber” months (because they all end in “ber”. SeptemBER, OctoBER, NovemBER, and DecemBER). Interesting, right?

My students shared their Christmas food plans—Christmas cake, roasted chicken, and sushi! That got me inspired to try something new this year. I’m planning to make baked sushi for Christmas. How about you? What special food are you looking forward to this Christmas season?
