The Unknown Future
Today, I came across the phrase: “No one knows what the future will bring.”
It made me think about an interesting topic that we could discuss for today –Would you rather know your future or let it stay a mystery?
If you knew your future, you’d see the consequences of your actions ahead of time and could prepare for what’s coming. Sounds helpful, right?
But on the other hand, keeping your future unknown adds excitement to life. The mystery lets us take risks, face surprises, and learn from our mistakes. Knowing everything in advance might make life feel predictable—and maybe even boring.
I brought this question to my student, and after thinking about it, he said he’d prefer to know his future. He liked the idea of avoiding mistakes, making better choices, and creating a perfect path for himself.
Then he turned the question back to me. When I thought about it, I realized that knowing my future might be scary. If I already knew I’d fail at something, I might not even try, missing out on growth and new experiences.
For me, I’d only want to know the future for one thing—winning lotto numbers! But for everything else, I’d choose the unknown. The challenges, surprises, and lessons are what make life meaningful.
How about you? Would you choose to know your future or keep it a mystery?
